This rock is isolated and located in the middle in the 1000km away Pacific Ocean from Tokyo.

It rises up towards the sea surface from the thousands of meters seabed .

It is surrounded by several sea bed shelves which are hundreds of meters of width being in a position with a depth of about 50m.

In order that many tunas, amberjacks, oceanic bonitos, scads, and sharks may rest predation and the body around this rock, it has crowded together.

The fisherman compared this rock to the widow who stands still at the Pacific Ocean only by one person,

so they called it Sofu-iwa u›q•wŠâv
